I went to Submit an Online Nomination and could not access the page. Is the link not working or am I doing something wrong?
Actually, neither. If you cannot access the page, or you receive the screen message "Internet Explorer could not view this page," this typically means that your company or organization has Internet firewall setting set so that people using computers within your organization are unable to access certain sites.
To resolve this issue, you may simply have to submit your nomination from your home computer, or from a public access computer, which does not have the firewall restrictions. Also, you may contact your IT department to have them add the nomination site as a safe site to your company's Internet settings.
Why do I have to open a Google Account? Isn't this just a marketing tactic?
While I am sure Google would welcome anyone who would like to open an account, I assure you, they are plenty successful without them. The purpose of requiring you to login into to open an account is to prevent duplicate nominations from being submitted from the same person more than once. If you would prefer not to open a Google Account, you can show your support by leaving a voice message at 252-557-9638.
Why do I have to "Post to the Scoreboard" in a separate step? Can you see when I have sent in my nomination?
Since your nomination is submitted straight to Google, we have no way of seeing what you have submitted. As part of our final application submission on the 26th, we have to provide the with detailed numbers of the online applications submitted & online supporters from our community. In order to do this, we are having to track them manually through posts to the scoreboard.
When will they select a winner?
Google plans to announce their selection(s) at the end of the year.
What are our chances of being selected?
Our chances of being selected are the same as those of any other community; however, you must submit an online nomination! |
